In 2014 Charlie and Iarla linked up to run Rub A Dub inna Di Pub, a simple reggae dancehall college kinda night in Dún Laoghaire a non expecting area for a dance but it was our neighbourhood so we ran the dance.
Quickly their interest for reggae grew and most importantly outgrew the PA systems they played upon.
This lead to the development and construction of the sound in around 2015. After collecting the preamp from Jah Tubbys workshop in London Iarla rushed home with said preamp in Ryanair carryon to practice with it before our inaugural launch of the full stack with Irie Vibes Sound (York) with great success the dance rammed and fulla vibes we trodded on for many years!
After ups and down, trials and tribulations the sound has reached the ripe age of 10 and it’s time for a real celebration!
We invite you to dance and smile this coming Father’s Day June 21st to celebrate the sound and operator Charlie’s earth strong. Reggae and soundsystem in Ireland is a family one that has grown into a very fruitful community and I welcome many more years of Rubadub.
Thank you all for the support over the years!!
With support from Sugar Club we are able to ensure that all proceeds go to Aid in Lebanon sending solidarity to our brothers and sisters there.
