In kitchens across the African continent, gourds from the calabash tree have long been used as vessels where many different ingredients come together to create something nourishing and shared. Inspired by that tradition, Orogun Media’s Calabash is a celebration of musical exchange, bringing together artists and audiences through a rich blend of sounds, cultures and traditions.
This edition features a live performance from Yankari, whose infectious Afrobeat rhythms draw from the legacy of Fela Kuti while forging a distinctly contemporary voice. Returning after helping shape the atmosphere of the very first Calabash are Frawl, the acclaimed Limerick DJ and promoter celebrated for his eclectic selections and deep roots in Ireland’s underground music scene, and Hewan Mulugeta, whose all-vinyl sets journey through Ethiopian classics, African grooves and rare musical treasures from across the continent.
Joining the family for the first time is Ta Seti Sound, bringing the warmth and energy of live reggae music to complete an evening built on rhythm, connection and cultural exchange.Like the vessel that gives the event its name, Calabash is about bringing diverse ingredients together into one unforgettable experience—where Afrobeat, Ethiopian grooves, reggae and global sounds meet on a single dancefloor.
